Reject Images (Front Cover)

I rejected this image for my front cover because the star is smiling, the aim for our front cover is promote style and I need the star to look serious as the story in the trailer is not a laughing matter. Finally the star's eyes are squinting and therfore does not draw the readers attention

I rejected this image because the framing is wrong and we are unable to see the star. We need a full shot of his head if the front cover is to work, also the posture of the star is wrong and looks unnatural

I rejected this image because the jacket over the shoulder makes the shot look happy and upbeat when the aim of our shot is to promote style and a sense of the upcoming show which is not an upbeat situation for the star

I rejected this image because the star's hand is covering to much of his hair and the position looks unnatural, As well as this the shot is taken from to far away so would not be suitable for the close up shot I require for my front cover

I decided this was the right magazine cover to base my front cover on because the image stands out and looks bold, its the center of the page and draws the reader in, after planning my images I found that my image would work well in a similar lay out to this.

We created these mind maps to decide on colour scheme, names, layout and the type of magazine it was going to be. These mind maps were useful when coming to decisions

Music Planning

I needed to choose a song that was correct for the theme and feel of my trailer. It also needed to be a song that fitted with the conventions of a Scripted Reality. I wanted an upbeat song that would appeal to my target audience, firstly I tryed Olly Murs Troublemaker, this song would fit in well with the storyline of my trailer as the main character causes trouble around Chelsea, but I could not use this song as the lyrics were overlapping with the characters speech which lead to my trailer's speech being less clear. My second choice was the song that I chose to be my trailers background music. The song Midnight City by M83 first came around when the first episode of Made In Chelsea was released it was the song that introduced the show therefore it fits the of a scripted reality show and as there is a long introduction of the long it worked out that the lyrics would not interrupt with the characters speech

Billboard Planning

I am going to base my Made In Manchester poster on The Only Way Is Essex poster, it is bright and colourfull and stands out from other types of posters, It shows all the characters which are in my soap which is similar to the Made In Chelsea Billboard

Trailer Planning

I decided to use the Made In Chelsea trailer Series 3 episode 4 as the trailer to base my Made In Manchester trailer on. The reasons I chose this trailer was it had a strong storyline which could be developed into a trailer that had 1 main storyline. The speech in this trailer is strong and shows the audience what the story is about. Also the trailer had the correct number of characters in it that would work for my group therefore everyone would have a role to play.

Poster Practice

Before planning my poster I had to do research on Poster's from similar scripted realities. This is a Made In Chelsea poster, I found this poster to extravagant, unlike Made In Chelsea, Made In Manchester is not about having wealth so therefore this poster would not be appropiate for my audience, I need to use a poster that is more bright and colourfull a more appropiate show would be The Only Way Is Essex

Made In Manchester First draft

This is my first edit of my Made In Manchester trailer. There is many problems with it. Firstly a lot of the shots I have used the camera movement is shaky, this is not a convention that is used in Scripted Reality, therefore I need to re-shoot these shots with a tri-pod so that the camera movement matches the conventions of scripted reality programmes. Another problem with my first edit is the sound. My background music prevents me from hearing some of the speech therefore I need to edit the sound so that I can still hear the speech as well as the backround music. My first edit has some positives. The storyline of the trailer makes sense and when I have the right clips will run as planned.

Reject Images (billboard)

 I rejected this image as the star's face looks scared and the expression looks unnatural and doesn't fit in with the feel of the billboard which is to show anger towards the main star (Tarquin)

 I rejected this image because the star's eyes are to squinted and the lack of eye contract wont draw in the watchers attention. It is hard to see whether the star's eyes are actually open and we are unsure which way she is facing

 I rejected this image because the star's is looking down to much and its hard to see her face we need her head to be higher and he eyes to look down

I rejected this image as the star's face is not appropriate for the feel of the billboard the billboard is meant to be serious and show the storyline. Also the lack of eye contract draws attention away from the main character

Made In Manchester Take 5

This is my 5th edit of my trailer. I have now removed the previous faults on the 4th edit, the sound is clearer and the clips are shorter making the trailer stand out more and keeps it exciting. I still have problems with this trailer, I have now created a professional looking title card so I no longer need the imovie title cards that now don't look right and make my trailer look sloppy.
